AN URGENT NEED!

Provision of Care Facilities for elderly Sisters in Ireland

Ireland is the home to a large number of Missionary Sisters of the Holy Rosary.

When Sisters are no longer able to remain active in their apostolates abroad and require care and support – physical and medical – they return home to Ireland. Having returned, they are dependent on Irish welfare system as they have no other income or pension. Some sisters remain active and volunteer to help in local projects. Others need care in a suitable facility.

A few years ago, the Missionary Sisters of the Holy Rosary entered into a partnership with a Housing Agency and the Irish Government to build an appropriate facility in our property. This ‘purpose built’ facility was meant to provide accommodation both for our sisters and other seniors in need.

However, with a long protocol, logistics and then the recession in Ireland, this project was cancelled. However, the accommodation for our sisters is still needed and is now urgent.

The plan now is to reconstruct an existing facility into a two story “purpose building”, which will be elderly friendly. It will adjoin the existing Holy Rosary Convent in Artane, Dublin.

Estimated Cost:

The Holy Rosary Sisters seek funding and will gratefully appreciate any support possible. The estimated cost is $2.4 million or €1.8 million.
